ISLAMIC PREACHING AND THE MUSLIM PRACTICES IN INDONESIA

Author: Prof. Dr. Acep Aripudin

Islam as a normative idea is claimed to be able to adapt to every era and place. However, the actualization of these ideas can be limited by space and time.

Introducing Islam to humanity through da’wah is evidence of the actualization of this idealism in various forms, dialogue, and sometimes attraction, tension, acculturation, conflict and harmony.

The actualization of Islam, therefore, is very dependent on the qualifications of the people. The higher the culture of a people, the higher the quality of its Islamic actualization.

In the context of Indonesia, which is inhabited by a variety of ethnic groups, the actualization of Islam has a real place. Although, it must be admitted that the symbolic experience of Islam was tested in the early days of Islam in Medina. Freedom of opinion and responsible actualization are the foundations for actualizing Islamic ideals according to time and space.
